Biography

Daniel Grant is an award-winning cinematographer who studied at Toronto Metropolitan University, and after graduating, was selected for the prestigious Budapest Cinematography MasterClass led by Vilmos Zsigmond, ASC, HSC. Early in his career, his passion for documentary filmmaking led him to travel throughout the world filming for some of Canada’s most notable documentary filmmakers. At the same time he honed his fiction filmmaking skills on short films and independent features. His collaboration with Patricia Rozema on the feature Into The Forest brought wider recognition to Daniel’s work, and to date he has earned ten Canadian Society of Cinematographers Award Nominations and three Canadian Screen Award nominations. He has gone on to film projects for HBO, Netflix and Paramount, and his recent credits include Danis Goulet’s Night Raiders, produced by Taika Waititi, and the Emmy-nominated HBO series Station Eleven, starring Mackenzie Davis, Himesh Patel, and Gael Garcia Bernal, which was recognized by critics internationally as one of the shows of the year.
